We now add the surface loading to the outer edges of the two elements (1 and 4) at the top of the cylinder. The elements,
and the edges to be loaded are defined by clicking the mouse.
Once the data file, with loading data, has been written by PREFEL, the "main engine" ELAST.EXE is compiled and run.
The resulting output data file is viewed using the post-processor FELVUE.EXE. We can view:
For nonlinear analyses such as elasto-plasticity, yield zones can also be displayed.
- the deformed mesh;
- Gauss point principal stresses as stress crosses;
- contours of stresses.
Below is a plot of the original (yellow) and deformed (green) meshes, using an exaggeration factor. By clicking on a
particular node, the displacements at that point are shown in the pop-up window (This and the following screenshot
are taken from Felipe for Windows).
In the next picture, the stress-cross plot is shown. Again, a Gauss-point can be selected, and its stresses are
written into a pop-up window.
Below we see a plot of contours of major principal stress. The zoom option is about to be selected. Note that contour plots of
major, minor, average or deviator stress can be made.
